Last month, 15 local rugby players came to face-to-face with their biggest rivals. The conditions were treacherous, the pitch waterlogged after days of torrential rain, yet the stadium was full and the atmosphere was electric. After the chaos of two weeks ago when Nice fans erupted from the stands onto the pitch after losing to AS Monaco, the riot police were out in force for Saturday’s Marseille-Monaco derby at the Louis II Stadium.
