Sport: Nice bids to be an international contender ($)
Last month, 15 local rugby players came to face-to-face with their biggest rivals. The conditions were treacherous, the pitch waterlogged after days of torrential rain, yet the stadium was full and the atmosphere was electric. Sports: Tension mounts at the top of the French premier league but Nice stay down
After the chaos of two weeks ago when Nice fans erupted from the stands onto the pitch after losing to AS Monaco, the riot police were out in force for Saturday’s Marseille-Monaco derby at the Louis II Stadium. In the event the bad behaviour was on the pitch between the players as Marseille beat Monaco 2-1, partly thanks to an own goal and a generous penalty. Read more …

Sports: Marseille defeat away benefits Monaco-Nice Riviera derby victors
For the first time since 1996, AS Monaco came out victorious at home in the Louis II stadium against arch rivals OGM Nice beating them 3-2. Meanwhile, Marseille went down 2-0 to Montpellier, a loss that leaves Monaco in fifth position, three points ahead of the Phoenicians who drop to seventh having squandered their chance to move up to second.
