Provence & Côte d’Azur: The bi-lingual Les Colibris school welcomes visitors on 27th February and 24th April

Montessori open day opportunity

The region’s only bi-lingual Montessori school, Les Calibris, is having an open day on Saturday 27th February. During the day two debates are planned to discuss the benefits of this method of education which focuses on harnessing the potential of a child.

Doors are open from 10am to 5pm and parents as well as teachers trained in the Montessori method will be on hand all day to answer queries and give their views.

From 11am to 12 noon Georgina Kelly, Director of Education at the school, will chair a discussion entitled “Montessori, an education for life”, and visitors are welcome to pose any questions they may have on the subject.

Then again from 3pm to 4pm there will be a second debate led by Ms Kelly on “building the Human race for tomorrow”. She will be joined by Dr Jacques Rey, a paediatrician and lecturer at the medicine and pharmacy faculty in Marseille, and founder of the Créativité Création association who will talk on the benefits of this teaching method for a child’s development.

Les Colibris is in Sophia-Antipolis in the Alpes-Maritimes and is for children from 2 to 12 years old. Underlying its commitment to this educational approach, the school offers a range of unusual extra-curricula activities such as yoga, naturopathy and sophrology. Fully accredited by the Department of Education, the school also organises free trial workshops on Wednesdays and during the holidays for newcomers. Another open day is planned for 24th April. www.colibrischool.fr
