Monaco: Georges Marsan weighs in with mini-crèche, improved “life line” service and plans for the Condamine market
Mayor outlines projects for 2010
Surrounded by his counsellors and a new communications director in the shape of Céline Cottalorda who was formerly with the Centre de Presse, Mr Marsan vowed to raise the profile of the services on offer.
Projects for 2010 include the opening of a “micro-crèche” in a few weeks time to help relieve the strain on the Principality’s over-subscribed kindergartens. Described as being half-way between a child-minder and a full-on nursery, the new facility can take up to nine babies and has been set up in an apartment in the Villa des Pins.
Meanwhile, the “téléalarme” (equivalent to the UK’s Life Line) service that allows elderly and disabled people to continue living at home will be greatly improved. Around 500 people benefit from this service and the Mairie has signed a new contract with the provider.
The Mayor also confirmed that the new multi-media facility, covering 5,000 sqm and financed by the State, would be going ahead as planned as part of the redevelopment taking place on the old railway lines, and that work was being done to increase the capacity of the crematorium. Finally, work begins on the roads around the Condamine market this year ready for the long-awaited renovation and development of the indoor hall which will begin in 2011. CL
