After several days of boat preparation in the city’s old port, the best yachtsman in the world will set sail tomorrow for the first day of The Louis Vuitton Trophy. Eight teams will take part in the 16-day competition, presently considered to be the only alternative to the world-famous America’s Cup, an event that is currently on hold.

Then, on Sunday morning, the Promenade des Anglais will be filled to the brim with athletes and spectators for the start of the Alpes-Maritimes marathon. The starting pistol will be fired at 8:45 am and the route will pass the entite stretch of coast along the RD6098, through Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Villeneuve Loubet and Antibes-Juan-les-Pins, to the finishing line on the Croisette in Cannes.

The RD6098 will be closed and diverted to RD6007 and the A8. All traffic is prohibited on the Promenade in Nice and Croisette in Cannes from 5am. Along the rest of the route, vehicle access will be stopped at 7.30 am. The roads will reopen approximately 1 hour after the last runner has crossed the finish post, and it is expected to be back to normal by around 3.30pm. The only exception is the Boulevard de la Croisette in Cannes, which will be reopened at 6pm.
