Eco-friendly red cedar buildings

Up to now, garden pavilions have mainly been made from pine, treated with chemical preservatives that need to be re-applied on a yearly basis. Crown Pavilions have now developed and launched the ultimate in Luxury Outdoor Living with a new range of Garden Buildings made from the finest Canadian Western Red Cedar.

"Pavilion manufacturers have been using cedar for their roof tiles for years," explains Damion Merry, Sales Director of Crown Pavilions. "It is well known for its naturally occurring preservatives which make it highly resistant to moisture, decay and insect damage - so it's much less likely to crack, warp or rot over time. And because cedar doesn't need chemicals, it's more environmentally friendly. So we thought, if you can use cedar for the roof, why not use it for the main structure as well? And this is exactly what we've done for our latest Collection."

Another great thing about cedar is that, because it doesn't need treating, it's easy to let the natural beauty of the
wood shine through. "You can stain it if you wish," says Merry. "But it's also incredibly beautiful if left to turn 'silver'
over time." And, of course, cedar smells divine: "Something you definitely don't get with chemicals!"
