France: Menton’s Mirazur takes 24th spot in world’s top 50 leading restaurants
For the third consecutive year, Denmark’s Noma restaurant has been crowned the world’s best restaurant by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Guide. France might have lost out on top spot, but it's still managed to hold on to its title as leader in ‘haut cuisine’. France: 2.88 million jobseekers in France
Unemployment in France has soared to its highest level in over 12 years, revealed the Labour Ministry yesterday. The latest statistics showed that last month the number of registered jobseekers rose by 16,000 to reach a record 2.88 million. Read more … Unemployment hits record high

Provence & Côte d’Azur: Passengers stuck in tunnel
Almost 700 hundred unimpressed passengers were trapped for seven hours overnight in a tunnel near Marseille after their train’s power supply failed. The TGV travelling from Nice to Paris broke down just after it left Saint Charles station yesterday evening. Passengers finally arrived into Paris this morning, 10 hours later than schedule. Provence & Côte d’Azur: Police given extra time keep terror suspects in custody
Some of France’s biggest cities, including Nice, experienced lock downs over the weekend as police launched a series of high-profile raids across the country. The head of controversial radical Islamic group Forsane Alizza was arrested in Nantes and a number of weapons seized. France: Pesticides used on apples and crops are harming bee population
A recent study has revealed that one of the world’s most commonly used chemical pesticides could be killing a number of bumblebee colonies across the country. In a bid to protect these honey making insects, the French Minister plans to ban the Cruiser OSR pesticide used on apples and crops such as cereals, sunflowers and rape. France: The 93-storey building will house luxury apartments, offices, a shopping complex and a hotel
France will become home to Europe’s highest building with the construction of an impressive Hermitage Plaza, now the official go ahead has been granted in Paris. France: Air France in trouble?
Leading airline Air France-KLM yesterday revealed a net loss of 809 million euros in 2011 - a figure much higher than the 300 million originally predicted by the transatlantic airline. Chief Executive Jean-Cyril Spinetta said it was a tough year for the company thanks to the uncertain economic environment and a large increase in fuel prices.
