During the early hours of Thursday morning, weather conditions began to settle across the Var. The Gapeau River was put onto ‘green’ alert, indicating expectations of light rainfall only.

The upstream part of the Argens River remains on moderate flood alert as its rising water levels have only just began to recede. It reached a height of 5.23 metres downstream at Roquebrune around 7am this morning. However, with forecasts set to improve, it is hoped that the overall river level will soon begin to drop.

The Prefect of the Var is still advising residents in Varages, Camps la Source, Saint Aygulf, Barjols, Brue-Auriac, Cabasse, Seillons-Source d’Argen and parts of Muy to avoid drinking tap water. Distribution of bottled water continues to operate in the designated areas.

The Lycée Golf Hôtel de Hyères, IME ITARD de Collobrières and Cours Notre Dame des Missions de Toulon all remained closed today. Val d’Argens lycée has been re-opened, while many other schools are set to run as normal again on Monday 14th November.

Over the last week of floods, there has been a reported 3,293 call outs in the Var, with a staggering 2,552 evacuations.
