Snow Causes Disruption

From six o’clock last night, all trucks with a weight of over seven and a half tonnes travelling along the autoroute were ordered to stop and park up.

In the Var, Alpes-Maritimes and the Bouches –du-Rhône areas, laybays became truck parks as the snow and strong winds made roads treacherous. Similar scenes abunded in La Turbie and Fréjus, with the Italian carabinieri following suit in Ventimiglia.

Motorists in some parts of the region were yesterday advised to attach snow chains to their cars and schools were let out early. The bad weather is set to continue with snow or rain forecast for the weekend.
