According to the U.S. Geological Survey the quake’s epicenter was located in the Mediterranean, 187km southeast of Toulon and a hundred miles west of Ajaccio. Fire and police stations all along the coast were bombarded with phone calls from worried residents, but fortunately no major damage or fatalities were reported. NM
