57 deaths throughout the year in the Alpes-Maritimes this year.

According to the Alpes-Maritimes General Council, there were five more deaths this year compared to last year, totalling 57 so far. However, in the month of November only two people have died on the region's roads compared to three at the same time last year. Two motorcyclists aged between 31 and 33 years were killed in the department.

Drink driving and carelessness accounted for 14 out of 57 deaths throughout the year in the Alpes-Maritimes this year. The majority of road deaths were the result of motorcyclists driving without a helmet or at excessive speeds and accounted for 20 out of 57 deaths. Drivers ignoring pedestrian right of way also proved to be a killer.

Nearly half of all deaths on Var roads this year involved motorbikes and men aged in their mid-thirties.
