France floods kills three
A homeless German man was found dead at around 11am on Saturday 5th November near the Hérault River after being washed away by floods. The man, who was living in a caravan at Lézignan-la-Cèbe was spotted on the morning of Friday 4th November hanging from tree branches above the rising river waters. He was then pronounced missing later that day. Forensic investigations are underway in a bid to confirm the man’s identity.
Meanwhile, a couple aged in their 70s from Bagnols-en-Forêt were found dead in the early hours of Sunday 6th November. They were overcome by carbon monoxide fumes after attempting to pump water out of their basement.
According to Météo France, weather conditions are set to improve in Nice as winds begin to calm along the coast. Mild rainfall is expected for Thursday and Friday, while conditions are predicted to improve over the weekend. The Var will also experience sunny spells, however the region will remain on high flood alert.
