Provence & Côte d'Azur: 58 million euros worth of development outlined for this year
Nice airport outlines plans for summer 2011
France’s second biggest airport has opened up eight new links this year, to destinations that include Doha, Oslo and Glasgow.
In addition to an increased flight schedule (up 2.9 per cent on 2010) the airport has launched a number of new initiatives designed to improve the passenger’s airport experience. Among these is a free new iphone application, which was launched in December and provides customers with up-to-date news on flight status’ and helpful telephone numbers for the airport’s public services.
This year the airport will also be investing 58 million euros in a number of projects, including the development of six large new buildings. For example, a new three-level car rental centre and a 2,600-space car park will both be completed in June. Another of the construction projects announced is a 400 square metre gateway for terminal two, which has been designed to make disembarking larger aircraft quicker and simpler.
Work to build a business aviation zone began last year and is on course to be completed by 2014.
The airport also revealed two further future developments: a new on site petrol depot and the construction of lines two and three to the existing tram network, serving both terminals one and two.
