Provence & Côte d'Azur: Watch your speed!

New speed limits

New motorway speed limits are set to hit the Var in a bid to reduce road accidents, congestion, and pollution, dropping to as low as 90 kilometres in some areas.

Speeding motorists take your foot off the accelerator and slow down as new motorway speed limits are set to storm the Var in an overall bid to reduce congestion, pollution and the number of road accidents.
The speed limit on the A570 will be cut from 130 to 110 kms/hour

The Prefecture of the Var has announced that drivers must lower their speed on two motorway hotspots. On Monday 9th January a set of new signs indicating these changes will be constructed on the region's roads.

Motorists will see a speed change from 130 to 110 kilometres per hour on the A570 between la Garde and Hyères Les Palmiers. Similarly, on the A57 between Benoit Malon and Le Tombadou, there will be a new speed limit from 110 to 90 kilometres per hour.

The changes are expected to reduce the number of accidents which occur each year on our motorways, particularly collisions in traffic jams which account for 30 per cent of accidents, as well as congestion and pollution.

It's hoped the modifications will also reducd greenhouse emissions.
