Provence & Côte d'Azur: With the weekend promising to be a hot one, residents of La Seyne will be happy to have their beach back

La Seyne beach reopens after pollution scare

The Verne beach in the Var was closed on Wednesday afternoon, 1st August, after analysis showed abnormally high levels of pollution in the water. After a return to normal results, the beach has now been re-opened, ready for the weekend.

The red flags have been lowered on La Verne beach, just in time for the weekend

Although the exact cause of the pollution remains unknown, it is suspected that it was due to a fuel or gas leak from a boat or yacht. The communal health and hygiene agency have remarked that the pollution present on Wednesday has disappeared and that the beach is safe once more for all to enjoy.
