Industrial action continues

In another fatal blow to public transport on the Riviera, bus drivers for the SOMA bus company announced yesterday that they plan continue with their strike throughout the month of August. For almost two months now, there have been no buses running between Antibes and Vallauris.

Drivers are refusing to stand down until they receive parity in pay with drivers in neighbouring towns, they currently earn 10% less than their colleagues in Cannes and 12% less than those in Nice. Until now they have declined the 5 per cent pay rise and 320 euro holiday bonus they have been offered by management.
