Huge drug bust for the Var

People uncovered a collection of magic mushrooms that they believe had been grown by the group

A number of cannabis plants were uncovered by police as well as a collection of magic mushrooms which were being cultivated by some members of the group. MDMA and undisclosed amphetamines were also discovered during the raids on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Police were reportedly very pleased with the results of the drug bust and they struck gold with the discovery of the amphetamine ring - a type of drug that is often very difficult to detect.

Those arrested come from a variety of age groups, indicating the enormous level of involvement. Eight people were convicted of drugs offences in the local Crown Court while the rest were advised to seek medical or therapeutic treatment.

The arrests came after a six month investigation into the region's drug network by the Var police force.
