Provence & Côte d’Azur: Infectious diseases clinic commended for work

Hospital celebrates 20 years of service

One of the world’s leading HIV and AIDS research unit, the infectious diseases clinic in Toulon’s main hospital, is celebrating its 20th anniversary later this month. In light of the event, Director Doctor Alain Lafeuillade says that his team will “continue to look to the future” and fight to “eradicate these debilitating illnesses”.

The centre is recognised around the globe for its ground-breaking methods and modern research and Lafeuillade promises that he will “keep looking for a cure”, adding that his team has “never worked harder”.

Lafeuillade’s name carries as much recognition as his hospital. His work at the head of an international team with Nobel prize winner Françoise Barré-Sinoussi has been heralded as “spearheading innovative research” into the HIV virus.

In addition to HIV and AIDS, the hospital also deals with tropical diseases and the hepatitis virus amongst others.

The celebration evening is set for 24th April.
