Provence & Côte d’Azur: Which luxurious hotels along the Riviera will be welcoming the world leaders this week?
Behind the G20
And after long days discussing International Monetary Policy and world governance, it is not surprising that the world leaders should lay their heads in luxury. Residing at The Carlton in Cannes is US President Barack Obama, along with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and the Prime Minister of Spain, Jose-Luis Zapatero. UK Prime Minister David Cameron will be staying at the Marriott, whilst the Majestic-Barriere, at 1,400 euros per night for a suite with a sea view, will welcome the likes of French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany.
And while their other halves are busy at work, 9 partners of the world leaders will enjoy a more cultural visit, with plans to take in the world famous Renoir museum in Cagnes, the Bonnard in Cannet, and the Fondation Maeght in Saint-Paul. And, of course, they'll be experiencing the sweet scents of the world famous Grasse perfume factory.
Meanwhile, wheelchair access into la Rotonde Riviera for German Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schäuble has been organised. Although the Palace already has disabled access, Mr Schäuble has said it is important that he has as much mobility and access as possible during the two day event.
