Provence & Côte d'Azur: Community comes together to help flood victims
Fundraising mission in La Motte
It is two months since the river Nartuby burst its banks and swept through La Motte, destroying roads, uprooting trees and damaging homes, and many of the community’s 2,800 inhabitants are still trying to navigate the bureaucratic system that will enable them to piece their lives back together. With much state aid yet to materialise and insurance cover proving insufficient, the economic burden of the floods is great.
Hence the creation of the ‘Help-La-Motte’ campaign by the community of the Les Domaines de St. Endréol golf resort and residential village, which includes British, Belgian, Dutch, Scandinavian and French nationals. This newly-created non-profit association is working to receive donations and sponsorship that will help the local victims of the flood.
As such, the weekend of the 19th-20th September will be dedicated to fundraising efforts at Les Domaines de St. Endréol. A bingo-game will be held on the Saturday afternoon, followed by a charity dinner in the evening. Then on the Sunday a charity golf match will take place, after which the winner of the donor lottery will be drawn. As well as offering an enjoyable weekend of events to those in attendance, there will be the opportunity to win a range of prizes, including a copy of the collection of poems by Henrik, Prince Consort of Denmark, with a personal dedication from His Royal Highness himself.
Sign up to participate in the bingo game and golf match and to reserve a place at the charity dinner on the ‘Help-La-Motte’ website, where you can also make a donation to the cause, for which you will automatically be entered into the donor lottery. The campaign is also appealing to local and international businesses for sponsorship, and welcomes any support it receives.
