Provence & Côte d'Azur:The biannual flower celebration will take place this weekend in Hyeres
Flowers will be blooming in Hyères this weekend
A stunning and impressive three day flower festival will take place this spring weekend, celebrating the colourful and beautiful range of different plants and flowers in a series of parades and exhibitions around the humble streets of Hyères.
From Friday, plant and garden enthusiasts will have the chance to enjoy an eclectic and vibrant array of blossoming flowers at this colourful biannual celebration in the cut flower capital of Hyères.
This, the second edition, is this year taking the theme colour "orange yellow" and a total of 12 different associations including Pétale d'Or and the French National Federation of Florists will come together to present their unique and inspiring collections, some competing in a series of competitions, taking place on Friday.
A large flower market with a series of interactive workshops will be held throughout the day on Saturday featuring numerous information booths. The heart of the city centre will also offer some diverse flower displays and workshops in the picturesque gardens of Hyères.
The flowery festival will feature on Saturday and Sunday a parade where an impressive display of flower bedecked floats as well as dynamic dancers and street performers will take to the streets.
A range of professional photographs from the 1950s and the 1980s by André Durieux will also be on display in the forum of the Casino during the three celebration.
Hyères is considered to be the most important centre for gardening in the south east and the event is one of the biggest flower festivals in France.
Entry is free; parades and workshops will take place at 10am-12pm and 3pm-6pm (Saturday) and at 10am-12pm (Sunday) in the city centre.
