Provence & Côte d'Azur: 20 metre vessel has caught fire

Fire rages in the port of Antibes

Forty firefighters were called to the port in Antibes to help control the flames of a fire that began onboard one of the harbour’s yachts earlier today. Owners of nearby vessels were evacuated for fear that their boats may too succumb to the blaze.

The 20-metre yacht caught fire this morning and firefighters were soon on the scene to douse the flames that have ravaged the boat which is moored on the Quai de Rambaud in the central port of Antibes.

The boat has been identified as The Pride of Stavanger and reportedly belongs to a Norweigan man.

It's believed that an electrical fault in the control room is to blame.
