Caution: rainstorm ahead

With up to 60mm of rain predicted for today and winds possibly reaching 100km/h tomorrow evening, the préfecture advises that outdoor and watersport activities be cancelled for this period. This includes walking in the mountains or forests.

It was only in June last year that the Var department was devastated by dramatic floods, which killed dozens of people and destroyed countless properties.

The storm this time is said to be hitting camping areas in particular, where many summer holiday activities are located. It is important for those travelling in the rain to take great caution, whilst at home measures should be taken to protect objects that can be easily damaged by strong winds.
