The 25-year-old entered the delayed final as chip leader and favourite to win. Similar to the format of the World Series Poker event, the starting field of 579 was reduced to just nine top players in September. These remaining players then battled it out for the top prize on Sunday evening.

His victory over finalists Salman Behbehani, Oleksii Kovalchuk and Ilan Boujenah moves Trickett into the top spot of  the all-time English poker tournament earners.

The grand final was held at the Palm Beach Casino in Cannes.
