Provence & Côte d'Azur: The drama refuses to go away for jaded PIP founder Jean-Claude Mas

Another scandal for PIP?

Former boss and founder of notorious breast implant manufacturer PIP has found himself in hot water as police launch another investigation into his defunct company and this time it's about his financial misdemeanours and not his substandard products.

PIP founder Jean-Claude Mas has been behind bars since March this year

73-year-old Jean-Claude Mas has been in police custody since early March for failing to pay 100,000 euros in bail in relation to his ensuing involuntary injuries trial later this year.

He, along with long time right hand man Claude Couty, are now reportedly being questioned by police in line with an inquiry into the finances of the jaded Var based company.

According to the Provence Alpes branch of media group France 3, the two men are now being investigated for the misuse of company assets (for personal needs) and money laundering, as well as the previous case of causing involuntary injury.

The industrial grade silicon they used to create the now infamous PIP breast implants caused a worldwide scandal when the story broke in 2010. It is estimated that half a million women around the globe have been affected by the drama and new cases of the implants being allegedly linked to cancer are uncovered almost every day.
