Provence & Côte d’Azur: Nice and Toulouse airport take off with Air France

Air France announces new low-cost flights

In a bid to gain a prominent place in the low-cost airline race, Air France has released a new flight schedule for Spring 2012, offering cheap flights from Nice Côte d’Azur and Toulouse airports. Around 1,200 new jobs will be created from the partnership, giving Nice’s employment market a much-needed boost.

Air-France strengthens its position in the low-cost market

The announcement, which was made yesterday, will allow Nice and Toulouse to follow in the footsteps of Marseille airport, who became part of the Air France low-cost package in October this year.

From 3rd April 2012, Air France will fly from the new regional location of Nice Côte d’Azur airport, offering flights to Barcelona, Athens, Istanbul, Tel Aviv and Venice. Nice will offer a total of 330 low-cost weekly flights to 22 cities.

Toulouse will also join in from 1st April 2012, where 16 new flight paths will be added to the existing 12. This will include five new weekly flights to Hamburg and four to both Vienna and Berlin. Overall, more than 430 new weekly flights to 28 destinations will be offered to and from Toulouse with Air France.

With the expansion of their medium-haul network at attractive prices, Air France’s competitiveness is soaring. Effectively, the Air France team for Nice and Toulouse is aiming to be locally based, creating around 1,200 new jobs for the Côte d’Azur region.

In Marseille, Air France already introduced the low-cost operation in October this year, where 13 new routes were introduced. Flights to Dusseldorf have proved a hit, and the airport is planning on opening a connection from Marseille to Hamburg on 25th March 2012.

With over 105 realised destinations this summer, a passenger increase of 8.6 percent in comparison to last year, and an estimated 10.4 million travellers passing through the gates of the region’s biggest airport this year alone, Nice Côte d’Azur airport is ready for it’s Air France take off next year.
