Thriller opera in Fontvieille

Donizetti’s Lucrezia Borgia takes to the stage 6th and 9th of March

Crime, intrigue and grotesque passion are being brought to magnificent life at the theatre in Fontvieille, Monaco.

Fans of the Monte-Carlo Opera have a rare opportunity to see one of Donizetti’s great works when the company presents “Lucrezia Borgia” at the Salle Canton theatre on Sunday March 6th (matinee) and Wednesday the 9th.

Performed for the first time in Milan in 1833, this major work brings to the stage the lurid history of Lucrezia Borgia who poisoned a group of friends of her son Gennaro. He does not know that she is his mother and that he is the result of an incestuous relationship she had with her brother.

Victor Hugo wrote the story and this is the first time that it has been performed in Monaco since 1933.
