Monaco: Albert and Charlene announce wedding plans
Red carpet out for Royal couple
The eyes of the world will be on the couple, with thousands of guests expected to mark the grand ceremony, which will take place in front of the Palace on 2 July. Millions of viewers around the world are expected to tune in to witness the event, which will also be available in 3D!
A red carpet will be rolled out in front of the palace, flanked by Monaco’s national guard the Compagnie des Carabiniers du Prince. This will form the aisle to which the future Princess Charlene will walk down with her father to meet her awaiting prince. The two will be wed at around 5pm by the Archbishop of Monaco, Bernard Barsi.
Giant screens will be set up around the palatial square offering all of the 4000 expect guests, a glimpse at the action in the centre. After the ceremony the royal couple will walk arm in arm towards the grand gates of the palace and then towards the Sainte-Dévote chapel, where Charlene will throw her wedding bouquet into the gathered crowd.
Albert and Charlene will be civilly wed on 1 July at precisely 5pm at the Royal Palace in the throne room.
The prince has also announced that both Friday 1 July and Saturday 2 July will be public holidays in the Principality, allowing all Monegasques to join in with his special days.
