The Monte-Carlo Rally returns to the World Rally Championship (WRC) for 2012 after a three-year absence. It was dropped in 2009 over an alternating venue ruling and, in what one suspects was a fit of pique, decided to continue with the not so restrictive but not so prestigious IRC (Intercon-tinental Rally Championship). The decision means seven-time world champion Sébas-tien Loeb returns to Monaco.
