Monaco: The Principality celebrates the life and legacy of Princess Grace

Princess Grace, a symbol of change

Grace Kelly single handedly established a supreme level of style and sophistication in the Principality of Monaco, first as an actress and a lady, then as its Princess. Her rise to the princely throne by the side of her doting husband Prince Rainier III was coupled with a thriving Monegasque nation and this September, the Principality is celebrating the life of this exceptional and inspirational woman.

'Grace, a symbol of change' will be held from 14th to 16th September, in a three day event that is sure to ooze all of the glamour and elegance that Monaco's Princess Grace held throughout her life.

She was a figurehead for the developing Principality and became an iconic image for women everywhere who avidly watched as a young woman from Pennsylvania followed her dreams to the throne of one of the most prestigious States worldwide.

Under the patronage of Prince Albert II, Grace's only son, the celebrations will begin on Friday 14th with an auction and spectacular gala dinner in the Hotel de Paris' Salle Empire. Later, American designer Jeff Garner will lead his models down the catwalk for the fashion show 'Dress to Change the World'.

The following day, a mini movie festival will be held in honour of the American starlet by Women Make Movies. In the evening, an exclusive showing of Alfred Hitchcock's To Catch a Thief will be shown. Hitchcock was a great admirer of the actress and once said of Princess Grace, "There's no one else like her in all of Hollywood".

Monte Carlo Beach Hotel will be the main stage for Sunday's festivities as accessory king Jimmy Choo presents the first ever edition of Monaco's latest attraction, the 'Monte Carlo International Hat Contest'. The 50s themed event is a nod to Grace's timeless style, which marked a turning point in fashion for the modern woman.
