Monaco: Princess Charlene takes on new role in the Principality

Princess Charlene new patron of AS Monaco Rugby

Princess Charlene joined hundreds of budding young sportsmen on the rugby pitch on the weekend as she took on her latest role as patron of AS Monaco Rugby Club. Crowds of locals gathered to watch the South African Princess don the red jersey as she enjoyed an afternoon of games with some of the children from the Monegasque rugby school.

Princess Charlene becomes the face of Monaco's famous rugby club

The Princess joined 200 young rugby stars at the AS Monaco stadium in Cap d’Ail on Saturday 16th June for her official inauguration as patron of the club.  
 
The President of the rugby club, Matthieu Louppe, told local media Monaco Life that he was looking forward to the Princess getting on board. “Myself and the whole of the AS Monaco Rugby Club are delighted that Princess Charlene has become patron of the club. This is a great honour to all those involved and we look forward to welcoming the Princess into the heart of our club.”

Louppe also added that with Charlene’s help the club is very enthusiastic to become more involved in the anglophone community.
