Monaco's Prince Albert and Princess Charlene sent their best wishes to King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden and his wife, Queen Silvia. They also congratulated Princess Victoria on the birth of her daughter who is to be called Princess Estelle.

"We send you and the happy parents our best wishes… The people of our Principality share the happiness of the Swedish people" said the touching letter.

With rumours of a pregnancy constantly surrounding the Monaco newly-weds, it was no doubt a relief for them to have the attention on somebody else this week. Or perhaps the princely couple is trying to establish a link between the two nations, with a future betrothal in mind!
