Monaco: A Ferrari from the 1950s has sold fora record 4.5 million euros in Monaco
Ferrari sells for 4.5 million
A vintage Ferrari from the 1950s fetched a whopping 4.5 million euros at the RM auction in Monaco on the weekend.
Just before the beginning of the Historic Monaco Grand Prix, an exclusive RM auction was organised on Friday where a host of prestigious and vintage cars were sold, reaching prices of more than 2 million euros. However the Ferrari 625 TRC Spider, raced in California during the 1950s, was one car that caught the eye of numerous classic-car investors. After a vigorous auction battle, this superb vehicle was sold for 4.5 million euros.
Another Spider Ferrari, a 375 mm, was expected to reach the highest bid but that one failed to find a buyer. A Formula One car, by raced by Michael Schumacher, also went for 720,000 euros
The auction raised a total of 32 million euros, slightly below the 33 million euros achieved at the RM's inaugural event in 2010.
