Authorities cordoned off the area near to La Rascasse just after 9.45pm yesterday evening. Journalists, photographers and press were evacuated from the centre, while officers carried out a controlled explosion on the box. A loud bang was heard from outside the building and authorities confirmed that the package had been successfully dealt with.

This is the second time in successive years that a bomb disposal unit has been called to the Paddock during the popular sporting event.
