Monaco: Prince Albert and Princess Charlene congratulated the winners of this year's Nymphes d'Or awards
America takes gold at Nymphes d’Or awards in Monaco
The iconic awards were presented to various stars from the best mini series - won by Japanese broadcasting corporation NHK for Yasu – A Single Father’s Story, to best new documentaries broadcast across the globe. The UK’s news medium Sky News dominated the current affairs category winning both best television news item titled ‘Inside Homs’ and best 24-hour news programme ‘The Fall of Tripoli’.
But it was the United States who stole the show, taking prizes for best drama TV series (CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), best soap opera (The Bold and The Beautiful) and best comedy TV series (Desperate Housewives). The Americans dominated the comedy category too, taking home three out of the four prizes up for grabs. Jason Priestley and Tina Fey took most outstanding actor and actress, while Christopher Lloyd and Steve Levitan were awarded best international producers for their comical TV series, Modern Family. Woody Harrelson was also named television film’s outstanding actor.
A unique award of the evening, Prince Rainier III’s special recognition prize was awarded to Sweden’s Dirty Waters.
The Princely couple, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene were joined at the cocktail afterparty at the Monaco Palace by A-list stars including Desperate Housewives’ Eva Longoria, CSI’s Eva La Rue and Walt Disney’s President Anne Sweeney.
