Diamond Jubilee: Cannes British Association

If you desperate to see the live celebrations but couldn’t get that flight home, the Cannes British Association will be setting up a large screen at the Grange (815 Chemin des Gourettes) for people to come along a join in with the spirit of the jubilee, even if they couldn’t make it to London. The event begins at 11.30am and from noon a barbecue will also be on-site as a team of professional caterers serve up nibbles for attendees.

Non-members are also welcome to go to the event which costs 25 euros per person. To secure your spot in front of the big screen, email: chairman.cannes@britishassociation.info.

Police in Grasse have backtracked on an investigation into the disappearance of a teenage girl, after it emerged that their witness fabricated the entire story. The 22-year-old man, who was the only witness to come forward, had claimed that he saw the abduction of a girl aged 14 or 15 on Saturday night. However, investigators performed a U-turn after CCTV footage of the scene showed nothing to suggest a kidnapping. Read more …
