Arts & Culture: Jean-Claude Christo exhibition launched in Monaco

Jean-Claude and Christo unwrapped

This month, the Entrepôt gallery in Monaco is launching its latest exhibition of photographs and lithographs showcasing the works by the conceptual artists Jean-Claude and Christo. Famed for concealing monuments around the world with huge pieces of cloth including the Reichstag in Germany and Pont-Neuf in Paris, this is a rare opportunity to discover, under one roof, the gigantic and monumental world of the artist-duo.

Visitors will be given the opportunity to view rare sketches and signed photos by the artists

The exhibition, co-ordinated by resident artist of the gallery Lothar Guderian, will include rare signed photographs and lithographs of the 'Reichstag Wrapped ' project. Being at the centre of a heated political debate in 1995, the artists' wrapping of the Reichstag was a concept that divided many. Their decision to conceal a building whose presence had been all too present the world over throughout the 20th Century proved highly divisive. This intimate exhibition allows viewers to step back and get under the skin of this highly influential and unorthodox pair of artists.

With a wide variety of images and drawings, the exhibition is open to all Monday to Friday from 3pm to 7pm and on Saturdays by appointment. The exhibition will run from July 17th to August 31st and is held at Galerie L’Entrepôt, 22 Rue de Millo, Monaco.
