Art & Culture: Plans for 2009 already underway
Jazz à Juan 2008 a complete success
The organisers saw an increase in all categories of ticket sales with an average of 1753 tickets being sold to the public per evening. The introduction of internet ticket sales proved to be a great success, and most buyers choose to use this system.
On four evenings, the audience was at over 70% capacity- something that the Jazz à Juan team is very pleased about. The popular artists were James Blunt, Al Jarreau, Keith Jarrett and the tandem Roy Hargrove and Marcus Miller.
The mixed programme was a balance between tradition and new trends, and the successful figures suggest the audience clearly enjoyed the music.
The OFF, the free concerts which accompany the Jazz à Juan festival, was also well attended, and featured diverse, quality musicians, groups and ensembles.
Those who jived at this year’s jazz festival and newcomers alike will want to pencil the dates for next year’s Jazz à Juan 2009 in their diaries. The 49th edition is to take place from 10th to 19th July 2009.
