Your survival guide to living in France
Dear Andy,
I have been in France for around eight months and someone down at the pub last week was saying that I have to switch my Californian drivers license to a French one within six months of arrival. Is this true? What are the implications if I don't make the switch?

Your survival guide to living in France
Dear Andy,
Following the holidays, a friend of mine has hit rock bottom and is in desperate need of help with his alcoholism. As foreigners here I have no idea where to suggest he go, or without any social security if he will even be able to get help. Can you shed some light on rehab and AA in France?

Little did this mother of two know that she was about to embark on a life-changing journey that would see her fighting for the most basic rights for her youngest daughter – freedom and education.Read more … Helping Ines

Dear Andy, I have been self-employed in France for a few years now and my wife and seven year old son are all attached to my carte vitale. However, I always see adverts on TV for a mutuelle de santé. What is it, do I have one already and if I don't, do I need one? Healthy-in-LevensRead more … Life Support

Dear Andy,
I have just moved to France after accepting a temporary job. I brought over my car from the UK. Do I need to register the car in France? I have been told it is very difficult but I do not want to break the law.

As the influx of summer workers to the Riviera begins, discussing the key points of workers rights in France becomes particularly important. A detailed labour law guide exists here - the Code de Travail - and it is often considered by many that employees' rights are more substantial than the rights of their employers. So, here is an outline of a few of those rights:Read more … Life support
