More roadworks in Nice
Work begins in November on various sites in the west of the city as part of a programme of changes to the traffic flow. The Mayor’s office announced on October 16th that the entrances and exits of the Voie Pierre Mathis will undergo reconstruction.
Further developments are also planned for the west of Nice, such as an extension of the cycle path along the Promenade des Anglais and the provision of more car parking spaces along Rue Bessy and Boulevard Réné Cassin. Disruption should be at a minimum since the works will be carried out during the night whenever possible but road closures are inevitable.
The first 400 metre section of the cycle path has already been finished but there are still three more to be completed and once finished they will stretch from Carrefour Mossa-Haliotis. The new car-parking spaces will only be made available to residents. Due to the one-way system that will be created along this road the extension is now feasible. With cars only moving in one direction there is now sufficient area to create the much-needed spaces.
These works are said to be the final stages and will be finished before Christmas.
Road Closures: Le Toboggan is closed until the works finish in December 2007 La Voie Pierre Mathis will close from 9pm to 6am 6th –7th November The St Augustin-St Phillipe south access will be closed from 9pm to 6am from the 6th to the 23rd of November.
