Service: Wrap up in an ice bar, enjoy hot latin grooves or even take a dip

Be hot or cool this New Year's

Staying in the Riviera for New Year’s Eve you’re not going to find fireworks to rival those over the Thames or Sydney Opera House. But don’t despair, the region offers a variety of ways to see in 2010 and there is something to suit every taste.

View of the sea from hotel balcony
The view from the terrace at Chateau Eza, 430 metres above sea level

If you’re after a beautiful view of the coast then try Monaco’s Fairmont hotel, which has a new roof-deck and also promises a buffet dinner, live music and a magician.

Or there’s the stunning view at Boutique-Hotel Château Eza, where you can enjoy a seven-course meal.

Sipping cocktails in a room of ice could be a novel way to celebrate and the Ice Kube Bar at the Kube-Hotel in Gassin even offers a parka, gloves and scarf to keep you warm.

If that still sounds a touch chilly, then why not cosy up in the wine cellar at Hotel Chateau de Berne, a vineyard in Lorgues.

Whilst things get positively steamy in the Palais des Festivals in Cannes with Che... Mambo

And don’t forget the New Year’s Eve/Day swims in Toulon, Sainte Maxime and Pietra Ligure: an ice bar has nothing on the Med in January, this one is only for the brave... or the insane.
