Business: Nice CCI will elect new president on 16th of December
Final day to vote in Chamber of Commerce elections
Voting will take place under a proportional representational list system, similar to that used to elect Members of the European Parliament.
Fifty-nine members will be elected to sit in the Nice Côte d’Azur Chamber of Commerce, whilst a further 12 from the area will be elected to the regional CCI.
After voting is completed each chamber will vote to elect its President. In Nice representatives will be choosing the successor to the residing president, Dominique Esteve, on the 16th of December. UPE’s Benard Kleynhoff is frontrunner to take over the reigns. Esteve will be running for the presidency of the regional Chamber of Commerce.
This election will be the first time that people can vote electronically online through the Nice Chamber of Commerce website, and the CCI hope that this will increase voter participation from 19 per cent to 25 per cent.
The Chamber of Commerce in Nice plays a huge role in business development in the region. Currently they manage a budget of 66 million euros, which is spread across projects from Menton to Sophia-Antipolis. The CCI also manages the Skema business schools in Nice and Sophia Antipolis.
