Event: A beer festival, Monaco style
Yet more beer
With the stalls packed away and the steins washed up after the Oktoberfest celebrations at the Café de Paris, beer returns to Monaco tomorrow night at the 129th Chope d'Or (or Order of the 129th Chapter of the Order of the Golden Beer-Mug - Beer Cavalry).
This quirky event combines the values of haute cuisine with the finest ales. The festival was created in 1963 with the idea of "demonstrating and defending the gastronomic qualities of beer".
Not your average pint
Some of the finest chefs in Monaco and France will be serving up a delightful range of gastronomic treats from soups, fish, meats and a variety of delicious desserts, all designed to match the different flavours of beers on offer from cold lagers to the more aromatic ales.
The event has the royal seal of approval with Prince Albert II expected to be among the guests at this year’s festival.
With tickets at 160 euros it may be out of some people’s price range, but it is still a nice thought if you are down the pub with your pie and chips.
