Events: Jasmine flavours the air in Grasse; music fills the air in Vence…
Summer is in the air
As well as the flower battle and the traditional spraying of the crowd with jasmine-flower water, the festival is a jam-packed celebration spread over three days, ending Sunday, with many of the events being free of charge.
This evening, the festival kicks off with a music concert at 9pm and a fireworks display at 10pm, concluding with a ball with music provided by the Gérard Sinclair orchestra at the Cours Honoré Cresp. For further information, please call 04 93 36 66 66.
If flowers just don’t cut it, many other events and activities are taking place this weekend that may entice those without plans:
Senegalese group Orchestra Baobab and French reggae stars Sinsemilia take to the stage in the Nuits du Sud festival in Vence tonight. The festival welcomes acts from all over the world to perform at the annual event. Tickets for the performances are priced between 10 and 17 euro. Tel: 04 93 58 40 17
On the coast at Cagnes-sur-Mer, the Country Music festival starts this evening with country’n’western star John Permenter on stage at 10.15pm at the Parc Canebiers. The festival finishes Sunday evening with concerts by David Waddell, Charlton Moody and Burrito Deluwe. Tel: 04 90 20 61 64
