Events: No shortage of things to do this week-end

Southern nights, Cuban music and African BBQs

"Nuits du sud", a celebration of South American music, kicks off tonight in Vence. Revista Do Samba and Yuti Buenaventura perform tonight, with others such as Mano Solo, Diego El Cigala, Sierra Maestra and Vocal Sampling lending their talents to different concerts until August 13.

Expect to pay 15 euros for one night (two concerts) or 65 euros for a five-night passport. For more information check www.nuitsdusud.com

Not to be outdone, Seyne-sur-Mer launches its 6th Cuban music festival tonight as well, with a photography exhibition opening night and a free concert with the Alternativa band. You can then catch a concert each night at 10pm until July 19. Prices are 11 euros per concert or 45 euros for all five. Check out www.ot-la-seyne-sur-mer.fr for more information.

Finally, if you're looking to fill your stomach rather than wear out your ears, this Sunday the Château de Berne celebrates African culture with a special Africa themed picnic and show. Dancers, singers and percussionists from the Grand Bassam region of the Ivory Coast will peform while a three course menu is served. It starts at 1pm and finishes around 4pm.
