Monaco: After three years absence Sébastien Loeb will thrill his fans

Rally returns to WRC

The Monte-Carlo Rally returns to the World Rally Championship (WRC) for 2012 after a three-year absence. It was dropped in 2009 over an alternating venue ruling and, in what one suspects was a fit of pique, decided to continue with the not so restrictive but not so prestigious IRC (Intercon-tinental Rally Championship).

Head along to the prize giving at 3pm on Sunday 22nd January outside the palace!

The decision means seven-time world champion Sébas-tien Loeb returns to Monaco.

The practice sessions (or Shakedown) are on Tuesday 17th January in the Ardèche near Valence before the first stages are run on the 18th. Participants will arrive at the enclosure on Quai Antoine 1er by the main port in Monaco on Friday 20th from 8pm onwards.

On Saturday 21st they head out at 1.15pm for the Mona-co-Monaco stage in the Alpes-Maritimes, taking in old favourites like Moulinet, La Bollène Vésubie, Lantosque and Lucéram, before arriving back at 9.30pm. On Sunday 22nd they leave for the final stage from the port at 9am, heading for St Agnès - Col de la Madone, and arriving back on Quai Antoine 1er at 11.17am.

The prize-giving is in front of the palace at 3pm that afternoon, with the cars being regrouped on Quai Antoine 1er around 2.15pm to go up to the Rock and the Palace in convoy for 3pm.

Numbers had not been confirmed but the maximum number of cars allowed is 100.
