Provence & Côte d’Azur: February is all about kicking up the heels and having fun with the locals

It’s festival time!

Traditionally, carnival time gave the public a chance to let off some steam and indulge themselves before the deprivations of Lent. Nowadays, it's a perfect excuse to break up the boredom that arrives with winter and, this being the Côte d’Azur, a way of attracting tourists in the low season when the weather has a good chance of being fine. Whether it's giant papier mâché heads or elephants adorned with citrus fruit, carnivals are exciting, colourful, and often downright weird. They're also another great excuse for getting out and seeing this beautiful region of ours!
