Gourmet: Mamma’s real Italian does still exist
Home-made pasta
Well a delightful, inexpensive local restaurant with tasty Ravioli and typical locally produced wines does exist. Our tip: The Ristorante La Lavinella, which is located in the tiny village of Lavina, near the River Giara di Rezzo.
It's a family-run business: Daniela Tadorni and chef Maurizio run the restaurant and their daughter also helps out during the summer. Three generations of the same family work here: at the age of 73, Daniela's Mamma, Marisa, whose parents founded the restaurant in 1980, is still working there.
The dining room resembles a cosy living room, looking out on a terrace. Maurizio uses the recipes handed down from his grandmother. Starters include Cima, filled veal breast and the main course highlight is the homemade pasta, although there are also meat dishes including roasted wild boar. The panna cotta dessert is divine. A meal with wine costs around 25 euros. RFR
