Events: British and American films up for awards

Monte-Carlo Comedy Film Festival underway

The 9th Monte-Carlo Comedy Film Festival was officially opened yesterday and runs until Saturday 28th November, with most film screenings at the Grimaldi Forum being open to the public.

Among those films in competition are Cold Souls directed by Sophie Barthes from the USA, and Bruce Webb’s British film The Be all and End All. Other finalists include Le Bonheur de Pierre (France-Canada) by Robert Ménard with Pierre Richard, Rémy Girard and Sylvie Testud; Dilip Mehta’s Cooking with Stella (Canada) with Don McKellar and Seema Biswas; De laatste dagen van Emma Blank (Netherlands); Gordos (Spain) by Daniel Sanchez Arévalo, and another Spanish film, Pagafantas directed by Borja Cobeaga.

The closing film is Jason Reitman's Up in the air (USA) with George Clooney, Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick, and the awards will be presented at a gala evening on Saturday night.
